The filing period for two open New Braunfels City Council seats closed Feb. 18, and District 1 will be a three-way race, while District 2 will be a two-way race.

Neither City Council seat has an incumbent candidate running in the May elections.

District 1 Council Member Shane Hines declined to file for re-election. Hines has held the seat since filling a one-year vacancy in 2018 and being elected to a full three-year term in 2019.

Council Member Justin Meadows represents District 2 and could have filed for re-election to a third term after voters approved a ballot measure in May 2021 that allows for council members to serve three consecutive terms instead of two. Meadows was first elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2019.

Below are the candidates running for each open position.

District 1

Andres Campos-Delgado

Jimmy Vallejo Delgado

Suzanne Kasey Lynn

District 2

Christopher Willis

Fabian Castillo Dealva

Early voting for the election will run from April 25 through May 3, and election day is May 7.
