Guadalupe County declared Michael Carpenter the winner of the March Primary Election for County Commissioner for Precinct 3. Carpenter earned 2,568 votes, which accounts for 68.50% of the vote. Cedric Edwards earned 1,181 votes which accounts for 31.50% of the vote.

Results are unofficial until canvassed.

UPDATE: 10:30 p.m. CST

With 32 of 34 precincts reporting, Michael Carpenter has maintained his lead over opponent Cedric Edwards in the race for county commissioner for precinct 3 in Guadalupe County.


Carpenter has 2,323 votes, which accounts for 68.83% of the total, while Edwards has 1,052 votes.

Michael Carpenter holds the lead for the nomination with 1,819 votes (69.43%) and Cedric Edwards has 801 votes (30.57%).

With the first results from election-day voters now counted, Michael Carpenter has expanded his lead over Cedric Edwards with 1,738 votes, or 69.49%.

Cedric Edwards has 763 votes, or 30.51% with 12 of Guadalupe County’s 34 precincts reporting

The first return of early voting totals from Guadalupe County show Michael Carpenter has taken the lead for the county commissioner Precinct 3 contest.


Carpenter leads Cedric Edwards with a 68.74% share of all early votes. Cedric Edwards has 31.26%.

Totals from ballots cast March 3 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., though voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots. Community Impact Newspaper will update this article as more primary election day vote totals come in.
