Parents are asked to bring the following documents:
- Parent identification (Texas driver's license, ID, or passport)
- Government-issued birth certificate of child
- Child’s Social Security card, if available
- Up-to-date immunization record
- Proof of residency (no older than 30 days old; examples include current utility or gas bill, lease agreement or mortgage statement)
Kindergarteners must be 5 years old, and prekindergarteners must be 4 years old as of Sept. 1, 2024. Parents enrolling pre-K students must also bring proof of income, such as a current pay stub, tax return or employer letter.
NBISD staff will be present at the fair to help parents complete the enrollment process. The district’s Health Services Department will also be hosting a vaccine clinic and offer $10 vaccinations on-site to prepare those enrolling for the upcoming school year. Parents are required to complete the Student Multiple Vaccine Consent Form, according to a news release.

Additionally, the Lone Star Early Childhood Center will host a pre-K preview event this spring to allow upcoming students and parents to explore classrooms and meet the campus leadership team. Reservations can be made on the district's website.
According to the district, to be eligible for the prekindergarten programs, a student must meet for at least one of the following criteria or pay tuition:
- Child is unable to speak and comprehend the English language
- Child is homeless
- Child is economically disadvantaged
- Child has a parent serving on active duty in the armed forces, including a child of a member injured or killed on active duty
- Child is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services
- Child has a parent who is eligible for the Star of Texas Award
