The District Education Improvement Council, campus administrators, support services staff, teachers, students and parents all gave their input on creating the academic calendar for next year.
“I appreciate the work that went into this, the committee and everybody that spent the time,” District 3 trustee Jason York said. “I know a lot of teachers and administrators put in a lot of time and effort on this.”
A survey was also conducted that received over 5,000 responses, according to CISD Superintendent John Chapman III.
“One of the biggest things that we have to do as a school district is say, 'What is in the best interest of kids? What is in the best interest of making sure we cover [Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills]?'” Chapman said.
The board voted to approve the academic calendar during a regular meeting Jan. 25.
The highlights
- First day of school: Aug. 20, 2024
- Thanksgiving break: Nov. 25-29, 2024
- Holiday break: Dec. 23, 2024-Jan. 3, 2025
- Spring break: March 17-25, 2025
- Last day of school: May 22, 2025
