Comal ISD Board President Jason York said the board is confident they made the correct decision for the future of the district.
“The announcement of the finalist for the superintendent position at Comal ISD is one that this board took extremely seriously,” York said. “We asked for community feedback, parental feedback, staff feedback, and we got it and we listened.”
Chapman holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from McMurry University, a Master of Education from Wayland Baptist University in Mid-Management and a Ph.D. of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University, according to CFBISD.
Chapman has served as an assistant principal, junior high principal and high school principal in the past. He served as the superintendent in Chillicothe ISD, Ennis ISD and Comfort ISD before holding the position for CFBISD in July of 2018.
Comal ISD Superintendent Andrew Kim announced his resignation during a June 7 board of trustees budget workshop meeting. Citing personal reasons, Kim submitted his resignation effective Sept. 30. He will be taking personal leave until that date, according to the district.
Mandy Epley, assistant superintendent of strategic initiatives and programs at CISD, was appointed interim superintendent.
“It has been my great pleasure to serve in this interim time. Our team is phenomenal, and we are excited to move forward with our new superintendent,” Epley said.
