On March 27 the New Braunfels High School girls bowling team won the U.S. High School Bowling Foundation State Championships held in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Kara Kay, Maggie Thoma, Sarah Arrellano, Cheyenn Murphy and Cheyanne Holden competed against teams from across the state during the March 26-27 competition, according to an NBISD press release.

In addition to winning as a team, Thoma placed first in the girls’ singles division and Robert Hasler, a member of the NBHS boys' team, placed third in the boys’ singles division.

The girls' team will progress to the U.S. High School Bowling National Championship that will be held June 18-20 in Louisville, Kentucky.
