The New Braunfels ISD administration has named Chris J. Smith as the New Braunfels High School principal for the 2020-2021 school year.

The position was previously held by Kara Brock, who will become the new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for NBISD.

Smith has been an educator for 24 years and began his career as a teacher at NBHS. He then became a teacher and later an assistant principal in Keller ISD.

He returned to New Braunfels in 2005 and served in Comal ISD as assistant principal of curriculum and instruction at Smithson Valley High School. In 2010, he became the principal of Spring Branch Middle School, the position he will leave to begin this new one.

“I am thrilled to be back as a member of the Unicorn family,” Smith said in a press release. “I learned a long time ago that New Braunfels High School and this community are special. The lessons I learned from the Unicorn Community shaped me as an educator.”
