For the second year in a row, enrollment numbers for New Braunfels ISD have seen unprecedented growth.

After a historical increase a year ago of 340 students, NBISD added 424 students for the 2019-20 school year, said Superintendent Randy Moczygemba at a school board meeting Sept. 16.

“We broke 9,000 students for the first time last year and 9,500 students this year,” Superintendent Moczygemba said. “We’re going to continue to grow.”

Moczygemba noted that the district saw 4% growth from last year to this year; historically, it has averaged a yearly increase of 2%-2.5%.

Total enrollment for NBISD as of Sept. 16 was 9,537 students, including 4,689 elementary school, 2,196 middle school and 2,596 high school students.
