Council approved the resolution during its Aug. 10 meeting, and the agreement also stipulates the United Training Center, which is headquartered in New Braunfels, will invest $2.4 million into renovations to the facility.
City information states the $85,000 grant, which the city of New Braunfels Economic Development Corp. approved July 16, will solidify the creation and retention of 40 full-time jobs. A city document states the training center has until Sept. 1, 2021, to fill a minimum of 40 full-time positions with an average annual wage of $60,000 at its New Braunfels facility.
Jeff Jewell, economic and community development director, said some of the 40 positions are being relocated from Austin and other locations throughout the country to New Braunfels, and the balance of the jobs will be new hires.
United Training Center, a company that develops and trains employees for large technology providers, must also commit maintaining its corporate headquarters in New Braunfels for at least five years, according to city information.
The payments from the EDC to the training center will be made in installments of roughly $28,300 from September 2021 to September 2023.
