“We’re really trying to create a new kind of Uptown kind of vibe and community,” Meadours said. “We got our own little kind of Park District thing going on.”
Terrace’s rooftop features a full bar and lounge seating where guests can enjoy views across Freiheit Village in a more metropolitan setting. The rooftop also serves as a venue for live music performances on Friday and Saturday nights and is popular for private parties, Meadours said.
“The rooftop is kind of nice because we have a totally different atmosphere [on the first floor],” he said. “The rooftop is kind of like a play area.”
Additional patio seating on the first floor feels well suited for the restaurant’s Saturday and Sunday brunch menu, which features chocolate hazelnut crepes, quiche Lorraine and stuffed French toast and is served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m on both days.
Just as with Freiheit Village’s Double Schotts sports bar, Meadours co-owns Terrace with business partners and lifelong friends Jonathan Schotts and Austin Hanna. Unlike its American cuisine-focused sports bar sibling, Terrace focuses on affordable French and Italian dishes with a Texas flair, although it shares some of the other business’s DNA.
Opened March 11, the recently remodeled interior space features high-top seating, a pool table and walls adorned with large TVs. Patrons seeking happy hour specials are in luck with daily specials and a list of signature cocktails, including tiki drinks.
“We have a lot of tiki drinks, a lot of different kinds of served up cocktails and stuff like that, but at an affordable price range,” Meadours said. “The goal behind that is basically so people can go out and try new things.”
