On Feb. 25, Comal County reported 75 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the county total to 30,052 since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

The county reported 343 new cases from Feb. 21-25, down from 433 reported the week of Feb. 14-20.

An additional eight coronavirus-related deaths were also reported in the county this week, of which three were residents of New Braunfels, three were residents of Canyon Lake and two were residents of Spring Branch. A total of 527 coronavirus-related deaths of county residents have been reported.

County hospitals on Feb. 25 reported caring for 20 COVID-19 patients, down from 25 on Feb. 17. Local hospitalizations had previously remained above 50 since Jan. 12 before dropping to 36 on Feb. 8.

Hospitals reported eight of the patients were in intensive care, and one was on a ventilator as of Feb. 25. According to the county, 53% of the patients in county hospitals with COVID-19 are not fully vaccinated.

As of Feb. 17, 63.7% of Comal County residents are fully vaccinated and 37,334 have received a booster dose.


In Guadalupe County, 57.23% of residents are fully vaccinated and 32,742 have received a booster dose.

COVID-19 testing sites are available throughout the region, and many area pharmacies and health care providers offer vaccination appointments. Home testing kits are also available at some in-person and online retailers.
