The urgent care facility has roughly 20 tests available, but Dr. Nwando Okafor said that more testing kits are being sought for additional testing in the future.
Friday's testing involves a nose swab. Okafor said that the clinic is working to get the antibody test kit that produces results in about 15 minutes.
A telemedicine evaluation will be required prior to Friday's appointment and may be done through Thursday.
Okafor said copays would be waived for the screening and uninsured patients will not be charged.
"If you do have insurance for the physician assessment, we'll bill insurance but we're not going to collect any copays," Okafor said. "If you don't have insurance, we will not charge them—that assessment will be done for free."
The coronavirus test is billed by Quest Diagnostics to insurance providers—which are widely covering the cost—and private pay patients will be charged about $70 by Quest, according to Okafor.
All Comal and Guadalupe County residents are eligible for the test and results are expected to be returned within three days.
