Comal County confirmed a third COVID-19-related death on Wednesday, April 8, as well as two new cases of the disease.

A Bulverde man in his 80s with underlying medical conditions was being treated at a hospital in San Antonio at the time of his death on Tuesday night.

His case was previously reported in the county’s case count, which stands at 29. Guadalupe County has 45 reported cases.

Of the new Comal patients, one is a resident of New Braunfels and the other is a resident of Bulverde.

Both new patients are in isolation at home and the source of their infections remains under investigation by the Comal County Office of Public Health.

“Each death is a tragic loss to our community and reinforces the need to stay home and stay safe to help slow and stop the spread of the coronavirus in Comal County,” County Judge Sherman Krause said in a press release.

Of the 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Comal, 19 are still active and there are 70 test results pending.

With the introduction of additional testing sites in the county, case counts are expected to rise.
