The New Braunfels community will have the opportunity to provide input and feedback on the conceptual plans of the Castell Avenue Corridor Redesign project. The open house is scheduled for Sept. 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Tejas Room at New Braunfels City Hall.

The meeting will focus on translating the public’s preference for the desired streetscape into preliminary design. Some of the proposed improvements for the Castell Avenue Corridor Redesign include enhanced pedestrian safety and comfort, elevated walking experience downtown, and addressing drainage and utility concerns.

“Enhancing the walkability of the Castell Avenue corridor and making the area safer and more comfortable for all users of the street is an important effort to the continued vitality of our downtown environment. This is the latest in a series of meetings for this street improvement project, and representatives from the engineering design team as well as city staff will be on hand with the plans and schematics available for review, and can answer questions from residents,” Economic Development Director Jeff Jewell said. “The focus of the design effort takes the feedback from the Castell Avenue master planning process and focuses the engineering design effort within the space of Castell Avenue itself. These open house-style meetings make it easier for citizens to participate and provide staff with valuable feedback that will be used as this project moves forward to the 2023 Bond Advisory Committee for consideration.”

Residents are encouraged to attend any time between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., review the plans, ask questions and fill out comment cards.

Those who are unable to attend this meeting can still review the plans and provide feedback by visiting the City of New Braunfels Proposed 2023 Bond website.
