Two projects that received funding from a 2013 bond package will affect traffic in New Braunfels the in coming weeks and months.

The Post Road Water and Road Improvements Project began Feb. 14 and will continue through the week of Aug. 12. It affects Post Road from Gruene Road to the I-35 frontage road. Although access will be maintained, travelers should expect one-way traffic for the duration of the project, facilitated by the shifting of traffic lanes.

City officials said the project, which is a joint bid venture with New Braunfels Utilities, entails installing new water main, excavating existing roadway to subgrade, lime treatment, new culvert between Sagebrook Drive and Richter Lane, new base and overlay. In addition, the Development at Heather Glen will be tying into the new water main and existing sewer lines.

The project should wrap up on time, weather and other factors permitting.

Phase 1 of the West San Antonio Street Rehabilitation Project will begin Feb. 19 and will address West San Antonio Street From North Krueger Avenue east to North West End Avenue. Delays should be expected in the area. The city estimates the project will take a minimum of six weeks. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route because traffic will be detoured from this segment during construction.

Installation of new curbs and sidewalks will be included in the project, and the next phases will focus on improvements from North Krueger to Spur Street.
