A new veteran-owned barbershop called The Royal Method has recently opened in New Braunfels. Specializing in all men’s grooming services and hot lather shaves, the business is dedicated to bringing the classic barbershop experience to customers.

Local owner Jonathan Ruiz said that his time in the military inspired him to develop a passion for cutting hair and ultimately influenced him to attend barber school.

“During my time in the military, on a deployment to Iraq, getting a haircut meant walking a mile and a half in the blistering heat while wearing 40 pounds of protective gear,” Ruiz said. “After all of that, the haircut you received was a terrible one. Naturally, this motivated me to cut my own hair. When my fellow service members realized this, they began to ask me to cut their hair.”

Ruiz said that the business’s purpose is to provide customers with a level of men’s grooming services "worthy of royalty."

“Our commitment to providing premium service to our clients is what separates us from the competition,” Ruiz said. “We are confident this will undoubtedly lead to opportunities for expansion. Although valuable, we would only move forward with that endeavor if it does not compromise our commitment to our clients.”
