Nonprofit arts and heritage organizations in New Braunfels can now apply for grants funded by local Hotel Occupancy Tax revenues.

Proceeds generated by the tax must be used to advertise and encourage the growth of the local tourism and convention industry, according to the city, and 15% of revenues are specifically allocated to the enhancement of arts and cultural organizations and programs.

Organizations must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to apply, and eligible programs can include those that support historical restoration and preservation, advertising, music, visual art displays, and more.

Previously, $456,000 was allocated by New Braunfels City Council to local programs from revenue collected during 2020.

Applications are available online and must be uploaded to the City Secretary’s Office online no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 31. City Council will review the applications and allocate funds in early 2022.
