At a board meeting on Feb. 10, the New Braunfels ISD board of trustees approved plans to adjust Veramendi and Lamar Elementary School attendance zones from their current boundaries to include new homes built in the Veramendi and Manor Creek subdivisions.

As a result of the changes, 151 lots in Veramendi and 13 lots in Manor Creek will be moved from the Lamar attendance zone to the Veramendi attendance zone, said Superintendent Randy Moczygemba.

“You don’t want to divide homes that are side-by-side on the same street,” Moczygemba said. “Now it makes sense to clean that line up.”

The total number of lots being moved into the Veramendi attendance zone is 164, which could result in about 38 additional students in the Veramendi zone.

The new zones will take effect during the 2020-21 school year.
