Donna Eccleston was declared winner of the election for Precinct 1 Commissioner by Comal County officials. Incumbent candidate Eccleston narrowly defeated challenger Richard K. Smith with 52.1% of the vote against 47.9%, respectively. Eccleston received 3,069 votes and Smith had 2,824 votes.
Results are unofficial until canvased.

16 of Comal County's 27 polling locations are reporting partial results. Donna Eccleston still leads the race for District 1 County Commissioner with 53.25% of the tally and 2,604 votes. Richard K. Smith has 46.75% and 2,286 votes.
The first return of early voting totals from Comal County show Donna Eccleston has taken the lead for County Commissioner for District One.
Eccleston leads Richard K. Smith with 1,780 votes or a 51.82% share of all early votes. Smith has 1,655 votes or a 48.18% share of votes.
This primary cycle sees incumbent Eccleston defend her seat.
Totals from ballots cast on March 3 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m. though voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots. Community Impact Newspaper will update this article as more Primary Election Day vote totals come in.
