The New Braunfels High School auditorium will receive upgrades to its audio and visual multimedia system during the spring 2020 semester.

According to NBISD board records, the need for technology upgrades was first discussed during the spring 2019 budget meetings in which the school board approved a prospective $120,000 one-time expense in the 2019-20 budget.

After opening the bidding process Jan. 9, the board received bids from four companies, NBISD Executive Director of Technology Matt Jones said.

At a meeting Jan. 13, the board accepted a bid by Pathway Communications LTD in the amount of $108,586.29.

The upgrades will include renovations and improvements to the sound board and the installation of a wireless microphone system.

“A good audio-visual system is pretty basic,” NBISD board of trustees President Sherry Harrison said.

According to Jones, the majority of the project is expected to be completed during spring break from March 9-13.
