Applications are now open for the Texas Environmental Excellence Awards, which honor the achievements of Texans in environmental protection and preservation. Texas residents, communities, businesses and organizations can be selected for ten different award categories, ranging from agriculture to youth projects.

The annual award program is led by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and will celebrate its 30th year as “the state’s highest environmental honor” in 2023. Over 250 people and groups have been honored for their efforts to care for the environment since 1993.

"It is a privilege to recognize these Texans for the creative and innovative efforts being made on behalf of our state’s environment,” TEEA Chair Jon Niermann said in a news release.

Applications are due by Sept. 23. Award winners will be honored at a banquet May 17, 2023.
