Liberty Hill City Council voted July 23 to waive certain building and planning fees for those affected by the July 4 weekend flooding as they rebuild their property.

The fees were waived in the interest of easing the financial burden on homeowners and business owners recovering from the devastating event, according to agenda documents.

The gist

City Council’s resolution waives fees for site plans, stormwater permits, replatting, zoning actions, construction, system repairs and other necessary permits related to flood recovery, according to the documents.

The waiver will be in place for 180 days, and it only applies to flood-related work.

What else?

Building permits are not required for reconstruction during an emergency, but many people still aim to obtain them to be eligible for insurance reimbursements, meet future resale requirements and preserve mortgage and lending opportunities, according to the documents.
