The award cements the library in the top 19% of libraries in the state, parks and recreation director Ashlea Boyle said.
How we got here
The library had to achieve high marks in various categories in order to qualify for the award, Boyle said at the April 3 City Council meeting.
The categories include:
- Providing services to underserved and special populations
- Marketing in innovative ways
- Pursuing collaborative efforts
- Offering enhanced services through unique or expanded programming
- Providing literacy support
- Providing for digital inclusion
- Supporting workforce development
- Promoting cultural, topical and educational programming
- Comprehensive staff training
“We’re very proud to have such a dedicated professional library team,” she said.

Leander Public Library sits at 1011 S. Bagdad Road, and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and is closed on Sundays. More information on the library can be found on the city’s website.
