Main Street from the roundabout east to Hwy. 29 in Liberty Hill is set to see road improvements in January after city council approved a contract with Bennett Paving Nov. 13.

The more than $483,000 contract provides for asphalt repair, crack sealing and other road improvement services, according to agenda documents.

Two minute impact

The project is expected to take around four days, and the work will be done in January, said James Herrera, the city’s project manager.

The improvements will be done from a Thursday to a Sunday, said Katie Amsler, director of community engagement and communications for the city.

Crews will be on the segment of the road from the roundabout to the railroad tracks on Thursday and Friday to avoid impacting businesses during the week. Then they will work on the segment of road from the railroad track toward SH 29 over the weekend to avoid impacting school traffic, she said.

Quote of note

“They’re not going to be closing off the entire roadway. We will have traffic control,” Herrera said. “So, it’s going to be minimal impact, but we are going to try to work through the weekend to get this job done so that it doesn’t impact school traffic.”
