A developer is looking to donate 52 acres of parkland located behind Liberty Hill High School to the city of Liberty Hill.

The developer—4400 CR 277 Investments—is behind the Mansions at Liberty Hill, a multifamily development in the works near the parkland, city officials said.

The full story

Katie Amsler, Liberty Hill’s director of community engagement and communications, said during the May 8 City Council meeting the parkland has a trail running through it.

Furthermore, the developers are planning to provide parking spaces and access points for the park.

Amsler said construction on the Mansions at Liberty Hill has not yet started, and the project is still in the approval phase.

What’s next

Council voted 3-2 to postpone approval of the item until the next council meeting due to a request for staff to provide clarification about the process of banking the land.

City officials said banking is a process involving holding the land—which is now private—until it becomes public parkland. This process is necessary to pursue grants for the land in the future.
