Liberty Hill Mayor Liz Branigan submitted her resignation from office Jan. 19 citing “medical and scheduling issues,” according to city documents.

Branigan's resignation is expected to go into effect March 1, according to city documents. She did not immediately respond to Community Impact’s request for comment.

What’s next?

Liberty Hill City Council will consider approving Branigan’s resignation at its Jan. 24 meeting.

Council will also consider calling a special election May 4 to fill the vacancy. The remaining term for mayor will be May 4, 2024, to May 3, 2025.


The candidate filing period for the special election begins Jan. 25 and ends Feb. 23.
