Leander City Council will consider City Manager Rick Beverlin's resignation at its Sept. 7 meeting, according to a Aug. 23 city news release.

Council will also meet in closed session Sept. 7 to discuss next steps for hiring a new city manager, the release states.

In a letter to City Council quoted in the release, Beverlin described his decision as “bittersweet.” Joining the city in late 2019, Beverlin recounted being a part of the area's growth and “trying times,” including the COVID-19 pandemic, ice storms and water conservation.

“I appreciate all your support and that of the community and our local and regional partners,” the letter reads. “It is a bittersweet moment and wish all of you the best and the city much success, prosperity and peace.”

Beverlin's last day with the city of Leander will be Nov. 1, according to the release.
