Members of city council are elected for three-year terms, and they serve in at-large positions, meaning candidates do not have to live in a specific area of town. Residents will be voting for council places 1, 3 and 5.

The following candidates have filed to run in the May 3 election, according to the city’s website:
- Place 1: Stephen Chang and Natomi Blair, to replace outgoing council member Kathryn Pantalion-Parker
- Place 3: David McDonald (incumbent) and Annette Sponseller
- Place 5: Andrew Naudin and Donnie Mahan, to replace outgoing council member Chris Czernak

April 3 is the last day to register to vote in order to be able to vote in the May 3 election, according to the state. The first day of early in-person voting will be April 22, and the last day to vote early in person will be April 29.
