A growing number of high school students in Liberty Hill ISD are demonstrating preparedness to enter college, a career or the military, district data shows.

The Texas Education Agency grades school districts on college, career and military readiness by measuring graduating seniors’ participation and performance in several areas, some of which include:
  • Advanced Placement exams
  • Dual course credits
  • Industry-based certifications
  • International Baccalaureate exams
  • Texas Success Initiative Assessment
In recent school years, LHISD has seen an increase in the number of ninth through 12th grade LHHS students who have participated in AP exams, and earned industry-based certifications as well as college credit through dual-credit or dual-enrollment courses.

From 2023 to 2024, the percentage of LHHS students participating in AP exams rose from 35% to 45% as the number of AP exams administered increased from 688 to 975, Chief of Schools Travis Motal said. In 2024, 62% of students received a score of 3 or higher, which is equivalent to passing, compared to 60% the year before.

The number of industry-based certifications earned by students through career and technical education courses increased from 150 to 775 from the 2020-21 to 2023-24 school year.

Additionally, student enrollment in dual-credit or dual-enrollment courses increased from 698 to 840 from the 2022-23 school year to last school year. Of those students, 699 students earned college credit in the 2023-2024 school year compared to 616 the year prior.

Also of note

Motal noted that the district's CCMR score can impact its A-F accountability rating by the state.

Travis County district courts have blocked the TEA from issuing new ratings for the last two years due to lawsuits from Texas school districts.
