Several construction projects in Liberty Hill ISD are nearing completion as the beginning of the 2024-25 school year approaches.

LHISD Director of Construction Dustin Akin provided an update on recently completed and ongoing projects at a July 15 board of trustees meeting.

The breakdown

Two new campuses are set to open to students this fall as well as new buildings for adult special education students and the district’s technology department.

Legacy Ranch Middle School will initially open to incoming ninth graders as the temporary location for the district's second high school. The official campus for Legacy Ranch High School will open in 2026.


Tierra Rosa Elementary
  • Completion: this summer
  • Project budget: $47.7 million
  • Update: Gym bleachers and flooring are complete. Cafeteria flooring and stage lighting were scheduled to finish the week of July 15. Final work items are ongoing. District officials will begin moving teachers into the building after its final fire inspection July 18, Akin said.
Legacy Ranch Middle School
  • Completion: this summer
  • Project budget: $95.3 million
  • Update: Landscaping, and installations for gym bleachers and technology equipment are in progress. Furniture was delivered. The campus will have its final fire inspection July 23 and is scheduled to have internet beginning July 26 along with Tierra Rosa Elementary.
Liberty Hill ISD 18-plus Building
  • Completion: August 2024
  • Project budget: $5 million
  • Update: The district is renovating an existing 13,359-square-foot building behind its administration building for the program. Wall framing, structural reinforcing, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing work is ongoing. The board of trustees approved replacing the building’s roof for nearly $313,000 using 2021 and 2023 bond funds.
Liberty Hill ISD Technology Building
  • Completion: September 2024
  • Project budget: $2 million
  • Update: The district is renovating a field house east of Louine Noble Elementary for a new technology building. Wall framing, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing work is ongoing while concrete work is complete.
Legacy Ranch High School
  • Completion: August 2026
  • Project budget: $284.9 million (school), $20 million (stadium)
  • Update: Tennis courts, and baseball and softball fields are scheduled to be completed in August for high school students to use while they are housed at Legacy Ranch Middle School. Steel erection work is ongoing along with window and roofing installation.
What else?

Additionally, the district recently completed improvements at several of its current campuses.

Liberty Hill Middle School
  • Completion: August
  • Project budget: $52.1 million
  • Update: A library storefront was installed while finish paint, casework installation and final work items are ongoing. Over the past year, the district added classrooms, science labs and administrative space; expanded the kitchen and cafeteria with an outdoor eating area; and refreshed the gym.
Liberty Hill High School received the following improvements:
  • Updates to the agricultural barn
  • Refresh of the football stadium press box
  • New football stadium turf
At the agricultural barn, the district added a new feed room and hatch doors as well as installed new pens, water troughs and perimeter fencing. The district was scheduled to install a new track at the football stadium during the week of July 15, Akin said.

Work is underway at LHHS to build an extended driveway and additional staff parking lot next to the future Success Academy and Disciplinary Alternative Education Program, or DAEP, building.


The district installed a new playground at Louine Noble Elementary and relocated its playground for prekindergarten students. At Rancho Sienna Elementary, the district added a new sidewalk and is expected to install a turf playfield and kickball turf field this week, Akin said.

Design work is currently underway for Elementary School No. 8 and additions and renovations at LHHS.
