Liberty Hill ISD will open a new facility for its age 18-plus program for special education students next school year.

The district is renovating an existing 13,359-square-foot building behind its administration building for the program using $5 million in 2023 bond funds, said Rachel Acosta, LHISD director of communications and community engagement.

The new age 18-plus program building will include the following features:
  • Residential/commercial kitchen
  • Technology learning center
  • Bedroom learning center
  • Living room learning center
  • Residential laundry learning center
  • Classroom spaces
In August, special education students ages 18-22 will begin attending class out of the new facility as the program has outgrown its current space, Acosta said. The district’s age 18-plus program supports special education students in learning life skills after graduating high school.
