Three seats on the Liberty Hill ISD board of trustees will be on the ballot for voters this year.

What you need to know

The board of trustees voted to call an election on May 4 for Places 3, 4 and 5 at a Jan. 22 meeting. The election comes as the three-year terms for Place 3 board member Michael Ferguson, Place 4 board member Kathy Major and Place 5 board member Anthony Buck are set to expire.

Ferguson was elected to the board in 2021 while Major was elected in 2018 and won re-election in 2021. Buck was first elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2018 and 2023.

Major and Ferguson told Community Impact they have already filed for re-election while Buck said he was not ready to share his plans at the time.

Interested candidates have until February 16 at 5 p.m. to file for a place on the ballot at the Liberty Hill ISD Administration Office at 301 Forrest Street, Liberty Hill, according to district documents.

The election will only be held if more than one candidate files for a seat, Superintendent Steven Snell said.

The district will hold a joint election and share costs with the city of Liberty Hill in the event of a city election, he said.
