Liberty Hill ISD board of trustees approved the new bell schedule for the 2023-24 school year at the July 17 meeting.

The big picture

Class begins for elementary students at 7:40 a.m., middle school at 8:10 a.m. and high school at 8:45 a.m. Officials said the bell schedule was adjusted to better align between the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Dismissal for elementary students is at 3 p.m., 3:45 p.m. for middle school and 4:20 p.m. for high school.

A closer look
  • Elementary schools received an additional five minutes in the schedule, which allows for more instructional time, Director of Secondary Education Travis Motal said at the meeting.
  • The newly adjusted schedule also adds time between middle and high school dismissal, allowing buses to finish all elementary and middle school routes and better support high school routes.
“One of the things we found with our bus schedule last year, buses were routinely 10-15 minutes late to the high school all the time,” Motal said. “ Transportation runs all of the elementary school bus routes, and then as their finishing, pretty much all of the middle school bus routes finish up at the same time ... then all of those buses try to travel to the high school to drop off the rest of the high schoolers.”

With the newly adjusted schedule, bus drivers will have more time to complete routes between the school levels.

The schedule can be found on the district’s back to school website.
