Liberty Hill ISD board of trustees approved the opening and location of Legacy Ranch High School at the July 17 meeting.

In a nutshell

Legacy Ranch High School will now open in fall 2024 at the site previously reserved for Middle School No. 3. This decision was approved by the board to make room for expected growth and overcrowding, according to the news release.

"What we’ve noticed is that we’re growing quickly in elementary, and we’re growing quickly at the high school level, and we’ve sort of flattened out at the middle school [level],” Superintendent Steven Snell said at the meeting.

The details
  • While the building and site was originally designed for Middle School No. 3, it will now be opened as LRHS for two years until the large high school opens.
  • Students at Legacy Ranch will be provided with the same academic, athletic, fine arts, and career and technical education opportunities as Liberty Hill High School students, according to the district.
  • Legacy Ranch athletic fields will be ready in time for the fall 2024 opening. Superintendent Steven Snell said work on Legacy Ranch will be completed in 12 months.
  • The inaugural class will have a part in selecting the new school’s mascot and colors.
  • LHISD anticipates hiring a principal for Legacy Ranch in October.
  • Officials said Legacy Ranch High School has the same attendance boundaries as Santa Rita Middle School.
The board voted to push the decision on whether LRHS will host only ninth grade students or both ninth and 10th graders back to a later date.
