Liberty Hill ISD board of trustees approved an employee compensation plan for the 2023-24 school year at its June 19 meeting, paving the way for pay increases for all positions.

The big picture

With the district continuing to grow and the cost of inflation on the rise, LHISD realized that in order to support its teachers and staff, salary and benefits had to be increased to a comparable rate in the area, according to the news release.

A closer look
  • The plan allowed for a 3.5% raise for teachers, librarians and nurses, which is a $2,000 step increase.
  • Other salary positions will receive a 2% increase at midpoint.
  • Hourly positions will see a $1 increase per hour with a minimum starting salary of $16 per hour, according to the release.
  • The district will also continue to provide affordable health care options, including two no-cost health plans for employees and benefits for staff and their families.

New and current special education teachers will receive stipends, according to the district. Rise will receive a $3,500 stipend; Solid Roots will receive $3,000; Best, $2,500; ACCESS (18+), $2,500; and special education resource/inclusion and ESLE, $2,000.

What officials are saying

“In Liberty Hill our teachers and staff are a top priority when considering the budget,” Board President Megan Parsons said in the release. “As a board, we are facing a budget deficit greater than I have ever been faced with. Although we are not alone in this, as other districts in Texas are dealing with similar budget issues, the fiscal responsibility of our district is very important to the board.”
