Pizza Twist Taco Twist will open its first Austin-area location in late fall. Originating in California, Pizza Twist Taco Twist will offer an Indian twist on pizza and taco concepts. The menu features Indian fusion pizza, wings, appetizers and tacos. Owned by franchisee Mandeep Bal, the new location is at 13920 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Bldg. 2, Ste. 205, Leander, in the new Shops at Reagan’s Hope retail center. Casa Garcia’s
Austin-based Mexican restaurant Casa Garcia’s is anticipated to open its seventh location in Bar W Marketplace in late fall. This location will be Casa Garcia’s “largest space by far” with capacity for 500, Chief Financial Officer Lenny Arellano said. It will feature 21 beers on tap, booth seating and a separate party room available for events. Casa Garcia’s has been in the Austin area for nearly 25 years, and its menu includes burritos, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and seafood. Cheba Hut
Cannabis-themed sandwich shop Cheba Hut is anticipating opening its first Leander location in October. With the slogan promising “toasted” subs, Cheba Hut features a menu full of subs named after various strains of cannabis, though the food does not include the herb. The sandwich shop will also offer a full bar with at least 12 draft beers on tap as well as signature cocktails. Owned by father and son Joseph and Vincent DeMaioribus, the new location will be at 11620 Hero Way W., Ste. 160, Leander. Cheba Hut has one other location in Central Austin. www.chebahut.com
Tropical Smoothie Cafe
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is planning to open a location in Bar W Marketplace in October. Operating multiple states, Tropical Smoothie Cafe specializes in smoothies and offers various food options such as flatbreads, wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas and salads. Franchisees Mike and Kara Sheppard recently opened a Tropical Smoothie in Northwest Austin, and they are the owners of the new Leander location at 19388 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Ste. 620. Daddy’s Chicken Shack
California-based restaurant Daddy’s Chicken Shack is planning to open its first Austin-area location in Leander at the end of this year or early 2024. Daddy’s Chicken Shack sells chicken sandwiches, salads, sweets and breakfast food, such as burritos and waffles. A company representative said while the business has not solidified an official location, the franchisees Chuck and Nicole Goddard are looking at a space on Crystal Falls Parkway. www.daddyschickenshack.com
