The Leander Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center’s 2024 Real Estate Summit highlighted commercial growth in the city.

The 2024 summit featured speakers, including the mayor of Leander, as well as a bus tour of the area, showing those in attendance where new businesses and roads will go.

“We have seen a shift from the very early summits being predominantly residential to then them moving to more of a 50/50,” Bridget Brandt, president of the Leander Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, said about the summit’s focus. “This is our first year that it is 100% commercial.”

Brandt explained the benefits of commercial growth in the area include boosting the tax base, which enables the creation of more parks and amenities in the area and lessens the tax burden on the residents.

“The biggest growth change in Leander is the growth of commercial development. We can’t speak highly enough to it, because the benefit of that commercial development is ten fold,” Brandt said.

Brandt said another benefit of commercial expansion in the area is that there are more places for people to eat and shop.

What else?

Due to the growth, Williamson County has long-term transportation plans to support population growth, Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long said. That plan, which is largely enabled by voter-approved bonds, aims to eventually accommodate between three million and four million residents.
