Liberty Hill Outfitters officially closed March 16 after about a two-year run.

Since June 2022, the downtown storefront has offered gear, clothing and accessories for men and women. Owner Danyel Cake said she made the decision to close the store because of increasing rent prices and ongoing construction in the area.

Cake said these reasons were “too big of a risk” to sign another lease. The current lease for Liberty Hill Outfitters expires April 14.

“I decided to kind of scale back for a time, and watch and see how things go, before I sign another lease,” she said.

While the storefront in downtown Liberty Hill is now closed, Cake said she plans on partnering with other shops in the area that primarily offers women’s items to sell Liberty Hill Outfitters men’s apparel and accessories.

Cake said she will spend the remainder of the store’s lease term to clean out the space, and once that’s completed, she’ll focus more on the next venture.

“I’m still going to have my business name, and I don’t want to make [this] a permanent shutdown,” she said. “I want to keep [the] door open.”
