Women's clinic and short-term housing facility Ma Bailey’s will be opening in Leander in late April.

Ma Bailey’s offers short-term pregnancy and postpartum housing for families in Leander and surrounding areas who are seeking better and safer access to medical care. Other services at Ma Bailey’s include support with newborn care, breastfeeding and recovery.

Furthermore, the facility offers a women’s clinic for those who can’t afford prenatal or postpartum care as well as those seeking women's health care, such as annual visits and clinical counsel. Two licensed midwives will also be available for clinical assistance.

Founder and president Ruth Bailey said Ma Bailey’s is the first location of its kind in the U.S. Ma Bailey’s is located on 16 acres and will have four available units. Every room features a bathroom, kitchenette and a queen-size bed.

Bailey said families are able to stay at the facility for as long as they need or for the typical postpartum period. She said the facility aims to operate on a “pay-what-you-can” basis, and participants will be asked to consider giving a donation to keep the mission moving forward.

“[Ma Bailey’s] is just an interim place to be to get support to go back home without having to go from hospital stay to home by yourself,” Bailey said.

The property has the capacity to hold 10 additional units; however Bailey said Ma Bailey’s will immediately need local providers and families to donate toward the cause in order for the expansion to happen.

Ma Bailey's grand opening ceremony will take place on April 28 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
