Travis County is now under a burn ban, which will impact some western areas of Cedar Park and Leander.

Travis County commissioners issued a burn ban in a special called meeting July 6. The ban includes the portions of Cedar Park and Leander city limits that fall within Travis County. The burn ban means no outdoor burning except a prescribed burn under the supervision of a prescribed burn manager. The burn ban does not include outdoor hot work such as welding when done under the guidelines established by the Travis County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Barbecuing in Travis County Parks and parks managed by Travis County are allowed as long as the fire is within a closable container or container with a lid.

The Travis County burn ban expires Aug. 7. There is no burn ban currently in effect in the Cedar Park and Leander areas that fall within Williamson County, according to the county website.
