HAUTE SPOT

Haute Spot opened in April to offer live music to Cedar Park. The music venue hosts outdoor concerts during most weeks. Guests can find food trucks, indoor seating, fire pits and games at Haute Spot. Manager Heather Burnett said the venue hosted eight shows in its first 30 days, and it plans to diversify the types of music offered and increase audience space to cater to local music demand.

What is Haute Spot’s goal in Cedar Park?
We really strive to have a laid-back vibe to make people feel like you can see a concert in your own backyard but without any of the cleanup. We wanted to give people the option to spend less on a quality band than they might in downtown Austin.

What music genres do Cedar Park and Leander residents favor?
We want to support Texas musicians. “Red Dirt” country, outlaw country—that’s what’s really hot right now. We also do a lot of cover band nights because a lot of people like to come out and sing and dance to the songs they know.

Since Austin is the “Live Music Capital of the World,” does that title carry outside the city?
That’s what Austin is known for, and we’re just another extension of that. There is a perception that Cedar Park is really far. We’re really only five minutes from the last Austin exit and 20 minutes from downtown. It’s closer than you think.
