What we reported: In 2017, Cedar Park City Council discussed holding an election to let voters choose whether to reallocate a portion of sales tax revenue from one of its economic development boards to fund drainage improvements and street repairs in the city. In August council members fell short on the number of votes needed to call for an election in November, and the city plans to hold an election in May.

The latest: Cedar Park staff gave a presentation on sales tax reallocation for a stormwater drainage program in November to the city’s Economic Development Sales Tax Type A Corp., or 4A Board. The presentation covered how the board’s budget would be affected and what drainage and street items could be funded.

What’s next: In order to put the item on the May ballot, City Council must call an election by Feb. 16 for voters to decide whether to allocate one-fourth of the 4A Board’s budget to fund drainage issues. On Jan. 11, City Council held the first of two required public hearings needed to call a special election.
