Westside Elementary School recognized at Leander ISD meeting

At the Sept. 5 Leander ISD board of trustees meeting, the usually roomy boardroom was standing room only thanks to Westside Elementary School students, staff and families, who were there to be recognized by the trustees for WES receiving the Leader in Me “Lighthouse” designation.

According to its website, www.leaderinme.org, Leader in Me is a learning model that emphasizes the thought process to improve student performance and leadership.

The Lighthouse designation is awarded to only 10% of Leader in Me schools, according to Superintendent Bruce Gearing.
