Leander ISD's board of trustees approved a guaranteed maximum price of approximately $8.33 million for the construction of preliminary work for its upcoming Elementary No. 27 Thursday night.

American Constructors will serve as the construction manager at risk on the project, according to LISD documents. The $8.33 million covers concrete and steel work for the project as well as utilities and other items, according to the district.

The total budget for the school is nearly $37.78 million, according to LISD spokesperson Corey Ryan.

In November, the school district announced the school would be located in the Larkspur subdivision. Students currently zoned for Plain Elementary in the Summerlyn, Larkspur, Grayson and Orchard Ridge neighborhoods are zoned to attend the new school, which is set to open in 2019.
