Updated at 7:47 p.m. on Jan. 18 Leander ISD’s board of trustees approved the budget amendment allowing for the purchase of fine arts equipment for LISD middle and high school bands and choirs at a meeting Jan. 18. Posted at 8:39 p.m. on Jan. 4 A proposed Leander ISD budget amendment of $791,327.91 may allow for the purchase of fine arts equipment if approved by the district's board of trustees. The request includes pianos, tubas, clarinets, oboes, bassoons and more for choirs and bands at LISD middle and high school campuses, according to meeting documents. Superintendent Dan Troxell said the district regularly allocates funds for fine arts programs, but every four to six years, additional financing is needed "to ensure the quality of our band" and other fine arts programs due to wear and tear on equipment. "We went through a process of working with a couple of different departments to make sure all student needs were being met," LISD Chief Financial Officer Lucas Janda said. The board of trustees heard a presentation about the budget amendment proposal at its Jan. 4 meeting and is scheduled to take action on the item on the consent agenda Jan. 18.
