Gena Fleming has been named the new principal of Camacho Elementary School in Leander ISD.[/caption]

Gena Fleming was named the new principal of Camacho Elementary School in Leander ISD on June 22.

“Ms. Fleming has shown an impressive dedication to education and a deep passion for student learning throughout her career,”  LISD superintendent Dan Troxell said. “She is already well-known among the students, staff and parents at Camacho, and I know that her leadership and experience will lead the school on a path of continued success.”

Fleming started teaching in 2002 as a middle school science teacher in Northside ISD in San Antonio. She worked on multiple campuses as a teacher for eight years, and in 2010 she transitioned to an elementary science facilitator before becoming a district-level instructional coach. Fleming joined LISD in 2015 at Camacho, where she has served as assistant principal.

Fleming earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi in 2002 and her master’s degree from Angelo State University in 2006.
