Leander ISD parents are invited to attend an adolescent mood disorder informational program May 17.

The event, which starts at 6:30 p.m. in the lecture hall at Rouse High School, 122 Raider Way, Leander, is hosted by Leander ISD Counseling Services and presented by the Johns Hopkins University Adolescent Depression Awareness Program.

Karen Swartz, a mood disorders specialist with Johns Hopkins, will discuss and answer questions about adolescent depression and bipolar disorder. Topics covered will include characteristics, symptoms, prevalence and treatment.

Due to the topics scheduled for discussion, Swartz has asked that children and adolescents not attend the program.
