Five Leander ISD schools were announced Wednesday as 2016 Scholar Honor Roll schools by the Educational Results Partnership and the Institute for Productivity in Education in the state. River Ridge Elementary School, Canyon Ridge Middle School, Florence W. Stiles Middle School, Four Points Middle School and Vandegrift High School were named to the Honor Roll, part of a national effort to identify high-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students, according to a release from the school district. “Schools receiving this distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations,” the press release said. “The Honor Roll recognition also includes measures of college readiness.” “We are incredibly proud to be recognized by education and business leaders in Texas as an Honor Roll School District,” said LISD Superintendent Dan Troxell. “Our teachers and administrators work hard to achieve high expectations in student academic success, and this accomplishment is evidence that their hard work is paying off.” Charles Miller, chairman of the Institute for Productivity in Education, said in a statement that the Honor Roll schools are improving outcome for their students. “Many schools across the country are doing well, even those with high numbers of historically disadvantaged students,” said Jim Lanich, president and CEO of the Educational Results Partnership. “School and school district leaders have a great opportunity to find out what’s working at these Honor Roll schools and replicate it.” A full list of the Honor Roll schools, districts and the awardees for science, engineering, technology and math can be found at http://edresults.org/HonorRoll/HonorRoll?State=TX.
