Akin Elementary School, the district’s 26th elementary school, is located across from Stiles Middle School near the corner of Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Journey Parkway. The school opened to students in kindergarten through fifth grade Aug. 28.

The campus is named after Monta Akin, who served as Leander ISD’s assistant superintendent of instructional services and retired in December 2015 after more than 40 years with the district. Akin helped to implement the district’s continuous improvement culture and guiding documents, according to LISD.

The school’s mascot is the Aviators, and its color is electric blue.
