In the Texas Comptroller's May sales tax revenue data released on July 12, Leander sales tax revenue was down 2.39 percent from the same period last year. Cedar Park revenue was up 21.84 percent.

Sales tax revenue is the net amount of money a city takes in as a result of the sales tax and reflects the health of the economy. A larger sales tax means more people are participating in the economy by buying.

Leander revenues also decreased 14 percent from the April sales tax revenue.

Cedar Park saw an 8.7 percent increase in net revenue from April.
